A Northwest Hardware Store Goes Back to the Future
Mclendon Hardware has been a beloved northwest hardware company for over 90 years. Their last Brand update was in the 1990's and it was definitely growing stale in the market. Not to mention that they didn't have an E-Commerce presence and were slowly losing customers & sales to their competitors. McLendon's needed branding help in a big way.
Old Branded Website
Old website was not responsive and without any E-Commerce capability. Basically an info page for the stores. Brand looked tired and dated.
The Solution: Not only a new E-Commerce website, but new brand positioning and branding.
I was hired as their new Creative Director and we quickly built a team of Web Designers, Copywriters and a Digital Merchandising/Marketing team. Meeting with the leadership of this 90 year old, family-owned hardware store, it became clear that they knew one thing for sure–They were different. None of their competitors in the marketplace had their kind of history in the PNW and wanted to tell their story in a different, bold and authentic way. The website project became the catalyst to launch all-new brand positioning and other branding elements of the company.
Brand Mood Board/Style Guide
The team and I developed this mood board/style Guide to present to the family members and corporate leadership. It quickly became the the blueprint for the McLendon brand.
